The Mission

Save the Eslick Store & Office Before It’s Too Late

The Eslick Store and Office is in desperate need of repair in order to preserve its unique role in the Grand Lake area’s history. This is no small undertaking. The Grand Lake Area Historical Society needs your support to make it happen.

The Vision

Restore the Building’s Original Purpose

When Loren Eslick originally constructed the Eslick Store and Office back in 1933, his vision was for it to serve as a guest check-in and gathering place. We aim to restore the building and its vision. The renovated building will once again be a place to welcome visitors, complete with a modern restroom and small gift shop.

The History

Part of the Oldest Original-Condition Motor Court

The Eslick Store and Office is part of the Cottage Court built by the Smith-Eslick family in the early 1900’s. The cottage court is historically significant as it houses the first known motor court in the region and possibly the country.
